SENSITIVE CONTENT Field Notebook - Northern NSW [Cabbage Tree Island, Burnt Bridge]

This item contains surveillance observations and reports, small reference to text and translations of Aboriginal language, traditional medicine and clever people. The front section relates to Elkin's observations of residents on the Reserves controlled by the Aborigines Welfare Board (AWB). The rear relates to “notes on Dr Men”.

In the centre of the notebook are 19 pages of handwritten ink entries in another hand recording interviews Elkin undertook on behalf of the Aborigines Welfare Board (see reference to the "Prof" ) with Mrs Leo Bolt. The main issue appears to be control of personal finances and management issues at Cabbage Tree Island. (Access with permission of the Bolt family.)

There are also three pages of text for a speech Elkin was giving on the Northern Territory, reference to Chinnery, Policy of, and atrocities.

The notebook is not numbered. Entries are handwritten in lead pencil with annotations in blue ink pen.
