Cash Books [New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music Registrar] (Series 638)

This series records accounting transactions by cash and cheque. Types of transactions include student examination and course fees, teachers' payments and payments for electricity, stores, petty cash, overtime, etc. The format of these books varies as does the amount and type of information recorded, e.g., some books record receipt and cheque numbers. The information relating to teachers such as fees and courses of instruction may be related in some cases to Staff Cards.

Information relating to students, such as lists of courses and examinations taken, may also be related to Student Files.

From 1920 volumes marked with 'A' begin to complement those of the same year without the 'A'. To find payment or student details from 1920 onward it is best to have each of the volumes with the corresponding year available to switch back and forth between them as some date ranges are within one book and some will be in the 'A' book. This decision appears deliberate as despite being in separate books they have been careful to keep the order chronological however the reasoning is unclear, these periods covered in the 'A' book are not holidays or terms and nor has this been to separate some students or payment types from others.
