Many places are recorded but those that are accompanied by most detail about the resident language groups are: Perth, York, Beverley, Southern Cross, Coolgardie, Jurien Bay, Cape Leeuwin, King George Sound, Albany, Esperance, Mandurah, New Norcia, and Kalgoorlie.

This item is comprised of 7 bundles, 115 pages of typescript and handwritten notes and maps by Mrs Daisy Bates, and A.R. Radcliffe-Brown regarding Social Organisation (including kinship, totemism, genealogy, customs and language).

Bundle 1: References to Bates research and journal articles. Places mentioned include Southern Cross, Esperance and east of Coolgardie,
Bundle 2: Notes by Radcliffe-Brown pertaining to people of the southwest Western Australia, including Jurien Bay to Cape Leeuwin, to Perth. Bates names the tribe Bibbulman, however Radcliffe-Brown suggests this is not a tribal name.
Bundle 3: Handwritten and typed notes on local organisation. Places mentioned include King Georges Sound, Albany and the Swan River Settlement.
